How do I play MP3s?

Now that you know that MP3s are just digital recordings, you may wonder how you can play them or hear them!

MP3 playback on your computer

Usually MP3s are played back on personal computers.  There are a whole bunch of MP3 players.  These players decode the MP3 from compressed sound into uncompressed sound and pipe it out your computer's speakers.

The most popular programs are Winamp and Sonique.  Acoustica MP3 CD Burner will also play back MP3s.

Self-contained MP3 players

In the last year we have seen many new self-contained MP3 players hit the market.  These are devices that can store and play back MP3 files.

Type Explanation
MP3 Memory players MP3s are stored on devices with 64MB to 256MB of RAM memory.  Typically they can store from 1/2 hour to 2 hours of MP3 files.  These are a pain to use as you constantly have to hook them up to your computer and download your latest tunes.
MP3 Hard Drive players You can store a lot more MP3s on these devices.  An example is Creative Nomad Jukebox.  Since these have moving parts, they are more expensive and prone to problems.  Also, you still have to download all your songs.
MP3 CD Players MP3 CD Players play MP3s on a CD.  The cool thing is that you can have,  for example, 10 MP3 CDs and it could contain literally 100 hours of audio and music!  A good MP3 CD player out is the TDK MojoAcoustica MP3 CD Burner 3.0 will create MP3 compatible CDs and DVDs!
